YouTube was launched in the U.S. December 2005 by Jawed Karim, Steve Chen, and Chad Hurley as a website designed to share video content in an online repository where anyone could create and share their own videos. The site was created with an $11.5 million-dollar investment from Sequoia Capital then was purchased by Google for $1.65 billion dollars about a year later as the platform realized rapid growth and early adoption. In June 2007 YouTube was launched in the UK and 8 other countries widening its influence into Europe. By 2009 the platform was reaching 1 billion views a day and tripled to 3 billion views a day just two years later in 2011.

Instagram is a free social photo sharing application that was developed in 2010 that allows users to filter, crop and apply other features to their photos to post on their accounts. By 2011 and 2012 mobile versions for Android versions were made available. Instagram is an application that is supposed to be used in real-time so that users can share their experiences with others and make it easier to share pictures and images on the other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, etc. Instagram in addition is partially responsible for Facebook climb to the top. In May 2013, Instagram did the concept of photo tagging and that itself extended to other brands and businesses and sales increased. Important reasons Instagram is a leading content producer:

Twitch was founded on June 6, 2011 by Justin Kan, Emmett Shear, Micheal Siebel, Kyle Vogt and Kevin Lin. Twitch was initially launched just as a spinoff of Justin.tv. Twitch targets the younger audiences, mainly gamers. Twitch has 140 million users and over 9 million active streamers. Twitch is less about socializing with people through instant messaging and pictures and is more about socializing through streams, such as communicating with other viewers in the chat.
